CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Tasks and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:

  • In partnership with the company's founders and the Management Team (MT), identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company's web-based services.
  • Identify technology trends that may support or impede the success of the business.
  • Identify and evaluate appropriate technology platforms for delivering the company's services.
  • Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals.
  • Participate as a member of the MT in establishing best practices for the direction and control of your team.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies to support the company's organizational needs.
  • Communicate the company's technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.


Operational Management:

  • Manage the company's technology teams: IT Architecture, Operations, System Development, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Solutions Support, and Web Development. In total, these teams consist of 35 employees, situated in both the Dutch and Polish offices, and the plan is to double in size.
  • Stay up to date in your knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.
  • Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.
  • Share the company's technical vision with investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders, also collaborating with these parties to stay alert to opportunities and challenges.
  • Supervise the recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all technical staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
  • Establish standards of performance and monitor the conformance of your staff (through performance review) and vendors (through service level agreements).
  • Help the company achieve its business goals through community collaboration by developing policies for sharing software code, technological innovation, business processes, and other intellectual property.


Your Profile:
  • Academic degree in Computer Science or Business Administration
  • An advanced degree in one of these fields is a plus
  • 10-15 years of international experience within an online environment
  • Vast experience with managing and empowering a large team (50+) of IT professionals
  • Experience with managing various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with more than one software development language
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Dutch
  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
