GAME DESIGNER

Tasks and Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be researching and writing concepts for our Flash and Shockwave games. You will work closely with our other game designers, artists, and programmers, both in house and in our studio in Shanghai, China.

As a game designer at SPIL GAMES, you will work on several types of games. The portfolio we’re working on is very broad and involves making dress-up and decoration games, first-person shooters and racing games, and anything in between: as long as it’s casual and fun. This means you will get a lot of freedom, but you’ll also need to be able to get a feel for each game’s target audience, even if it isn’t in your main field of interest.

Along with writing concepts, you will also be giving feedback on the designs and prototypes the game developer delivers based on your concept. In the final phase before the game is launched, you’ll be responsible for the final quality-assurance checks and the language testing of the game.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s level
  • Strong affinity with casual games and experience with playing games on several platforms
  • Analytical and creative mind that thrives on problem solving
  • Ability to document and visualize ideas and concepts
  • Up-to-date with what’s going on in the gaming industry
  • Willing to dive into the market to research a specific target audience
  • Willing to incorporate feedback to develop concepts
  • Ability to collaborate with the game team to create innovative ideas for new concepts and existing design issues
  • Experience with Photoshop and Flash (however, you don’t need to be a graphics artist, but you do need to be able to express your thoughts in simple mock-ups)
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to ensure quality and accuracy: both detail- and results-oriented
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Experience with bug reporting and bug databases is a plus (DevTrack, Bugzilla, Mantis)

SPIL GAMES Offers:
  • A good salary
  • Good secondary working conditions
  • Working in an ambitious and expanding company
  • Education and training
