Name: Kim Verbon
Department: Game Development
Employee since: 2007
Summary: "Your ideas are taken seriously (which might seem odd if you judge me by my picture!) and you get a lot of freedom to learn and follow your ambition to the next level."

What is your role at the moment?
I'm a Game Designer and Manager of the Game Design Department. In our department, we do research and write game design documents for our own-IP games. These documents lay out the idea of each game and explain the game rules, target audience, visual style, and lots of other stuff. Using this document, we discuss the ideas with the team who's going to make the game and make sure the game comes out as we intended by giving feedback on artwork and playable updates. After the game is translated by our Localization Department and we've done the final QA checks, the game is ready to go live on our portals. An exciting time for us all: will the game be loved or loathed by our players?

What do you enjoy about working at SPIL GAMES?
The creativity and the amount of work that there's to be done. That might sound silly, but we never run out of ideas and there's always another cool game to be made. So while working on one project, our ideas are already running ahead to the next one.

What was your motivation to come to work here?
That's pretty easy: SPIL GAMES offered me a creative job in the gaming industry. And it's not just a creative job, it's working on casual games (which I love) and making them for a target audience that I can relate to and like working for (girls and women).

Could you describe the company culture?
I guess it's pretty Dutch: we work hard, but there's also time for fun. I'm still hoping for more SingStar/karaoke and open bar events, though. ;)

What makes SPIL GAMES special?
Your ideas are taken seriously (which might seem odd if you judge me by my picture!) and you get a lot of freedom to learn and follow your ambition to the next level.
