Summary: "Every day presents opportunities for new ideas along with issues that need to be solved, and this, combined with a great working atmosphere, allows for a fulfilling work life."

What is your role at the moment?
I am the International Channel Manager of the Family Portals. I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the 12 portals that target casual gamers in the demographic of females 20+ and their young children. Not only do I focus on the daily activities of the portals, but I also determine the overall strategy going forward to ensure that we offer our users the optimal user experience while delivering on the needs of our business partners.

What do you enjoy about working at SPIL GAMES?
The SPIL GAMES' environment combines fun with challenges. Every day presents opportunities for new ideas along with issues that need to be solved, and this, combined with a great working atmosphere, allows for a fulfilling work life. The company also offers a unique experience in terms of culture. Despite there being an obvious hierarchy, people are empowered to solve problems and present ideas at all times. This creates a buzz around the office with people sharing their thoughts and discussing optimal solutions. SPIL GAMES is also a constantly evolving environment, which continually presents new challenges, which, in my opinion, is one of the best things about working in our industry.

What was your motivation to come to work here?
My first role in the Netherlands was working for an interactive agency; however, having previously spent eight years of my career in online content publishing, the role of International Channel Manager presented a great opportunity to come back to this area. The casual gaming market is experiencing exponential growth and, with SPIL GAMES positioned as a dominant player in this market, there are many interesting challenges present in not only maintaining this position but being first to market with offerings for our users and partners.  It is this combination of factors that motivated me to apply to work at SPIL GAMES.

Could you describe the company culture?
The company culture is one of passion and loyalty. People here are very dedicated to their roles and the success of the company. There is no real 9-to-5 mentality, but this isn't an issue because most people really enjoy their jobs. Openness and sharing of information are also actively encouraged. New developments, ventures, and successes are discussed within the company, as are areas for improvement.

What makes SPIL GAMES special?
People, culture, and content make SPIL GAMES special. Being able to work with such a talented group of people in an informal environment with the opportunity to play games is very unique. For those of us who can legitimately play games and call it work, I think we are very lucky!
