SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Tasks and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a high-caliber professional with strong organizational abilities, a good intellectual capacity, and a thorough knowledge of product and service development principles to serve as the System Development Director of SPIL GAMES. In this role, you will manage a platform that handles billions of hits each day, lead the Systems Development Department (with a staff of 8), and report to the CTO. Your tasks, among others, will be:
- Managing the Systems Development Team and keeping its activities within budget;
- People management and employing a strong sense of business acumen in this otherwise fundamentally technical role;
- Balancing the use of staff, subcontracted resources, and third-party service providers to meet business needs;
- Promoting and stimulating cooperation between the Systems Development Team and Portal Development Teams;
- Influencing the thinking of, or gaining the acceptance of, others in sensitive and technical situations;
- Gathering requirements and building, delivering, and scaling our next-generation infrastructure and monitoring platform, a critical technical part of the company's success (as we recognize that more effective tools increase revenue, our engineering team is not relegated to a "support" role);
- Aligning the engineering processes with the work of the rest of the teams and developing your team's work to best help the organization maximize performance, scalability, quality, and up-time.
Your profile:
- HBO/Bachelor's level education
- A minimum of ten years experience in software and network systems engineering
- At least five years experience leading a mixed-discipline team in a Linux environment
- Experience with motivating and managing professional/technical staff is essential: the ideal candidate will have experience in objective setting and have developed key performance indicators to measure and deliver productivity improvements
- Technical skills coupled with sound commercial acumen and excellent interpersonal skills that allow the candidate to show leadership both within his/her own team and across the company
- Open-source minded
- Experience in the gaming industry is desirable, but not essential
- Able to create a long-term vision and implement short-term deliverables
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English
