SPILL GROUP ACQUIRES ONRPG.COM
Hilversum, The Netherlands – June 11, 2008 – SPILL group, a world leading online game destination of dozens of localized portals, announced today that it has acquired Onrpg.com, one of the top MMO (massive multiplayer online) portal and community websites in the world.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Historically, SPILL group has focused its portfolio on producing intriguing online games portals. This acquisition adds another dimension to its already vast portfolio of more than 42 online casual game portals, each which are localized throughout the world. By expanding into the MMO (massive multiplayer online) and MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) sector, SPILL group will be able to offer its expertise in this market and bring the MMO community new exciting features and interactivity.
Onrpg.com was created in 2003 by Gabriel Matzner as a source of free MMOs, eventually becoming one of the top MMO communities on the internet. Visitors to the site are able to learn about new free and paid MMO games, participate in game betas, enter contests, read game reviews, find the latest gaming news, and discuss games in a very active forum environment. Onrpg’s traffic continues to grow at a rapid pace due to the ever‐increasing number of dedicated members and contributors.
About the sale of his website, Gabriel Matzner commented, “I am very excited about the opportunity to work with SPILL group on Onrpg. I think that with SPILL group’s resources and experience we can rapidly expand the site, while continuing to focus on our community and improving the user experience.”
SPILL group plans to bring new features to Onrpg.com, including an improved look and feel, new media and interactive tools such as video content, and expansion of the community experience. By listening intently to the portal’s community, SPILL group will be able to cater to the needs of Onrpg’s users, including the expansion of social features of the site. The portal will continue to operate uninterrupted.Peter Driessen, CEO of SPILL group said, “We are now squarely focused in the games market. The addition of Onrpg.com enables us to expand even more from casual online games into the MMO and MMORPG online game market. This is an exciting addition to our casual game portfolio. We are looking forward to working with Onrpg.com and to building additional value for its large online community.“
